Do you sometimes feel that things will just never work out for you?
Do you worry that you are reaching an age where no more good things will happen?
And whose fault do you think that is? It is the fault of your own attitude.
Where did that attitude come from? Is there truth in it? Or are you just saying and feeling and believing something that you heard in childhood?
Have you ever thought about just where your ideas about absolutely everything came from? Do you believe that you made them all up out of your head? Think. When you were small were you surrounded by love?
Were you told that you were important? What positive things were you told?
Were you told that rich people are smart and successful or that they are bad? Did someone give you the idea that pretty women did not have brains? Could it be that someone in your younger life said that older people were worthless, or should be shunted off to old age homes? Did you have a relative who aged fast? Or perhaps there was one who actually seemed very youthful but other criticized him or her for acting TOO YOUNG for their age??? What ideas did you become programmed with as a child?
What you think is entirely up to you. Sometimes the changes take some time. Sometimes things change for you almost immediately.
Change your life in 10 easy steps:
- Find some balance in your life.
What are the things that make you happy? Do more of them. Wear something that makes you smile. Think about things that make you smile.
2.Pick your attitude.
By thinking of your blessings and not the things that irritate, intimidate or frighten you, you can decide on your own attitude. Really concentrate on good thoughts and it will change your state.
3.Become a social animal.
Humans like to be with other humans. Find some you like or visit, call or email those you already like. Do not sequester yourself in one small spot or room or persona. You are multi-faceted
.4. Eat for happiness and for health.
Pick foods you know will make you healthy, but find the ones that taste good, and look attractive. Have fun with this.
5. Exercise in a way that makes you happy.
Dance to the music of a groups you enjoy. Walk with music in your ear. Don’t just spend time on a treadmill, listen to music that uplifts you and you will feel great. If walking makes you sore of uncomfortable, swim or dance or cycle. But whatever you do, move your body.
6. Help someone who needs it.
This is one of the quickest ways to make yourself feel joyful. There are so many ways to help, there is not room to write them all here. Find something that you can do to help a group you care about, needy or ill children, or sick or aged people need you.
7 Remove excess baggage from your life.
Often the sheer number of things we have weigh us down. Try to purge your life of all these excess things. Throw out or give away clothes you will never wear. Place things for sale on ebay. Clear out your attic or that storage unit that you have not looked inside for months (or years).
8 Ask for help guidance and peace.
Ask this from whatever Higher Power you believe in. Prayer is good for the soul. You do not have to be religious to pray. But it helps to realize that you are not alone here on this planet.
9.Resolve to expand your horizons.
Change your habits and develop some new ones that are positive. Push that envelope and try new things. Learn a language, take a course online, go back to school, go to the Library and take out books on something new.
10. Reflect on you successes.
Surely you have some things that have happened to you that gave you a lift. Have you ever felt powerful? Have you felt like a winner? Have you surprised yourself with a task well done? Think how you felt at that time. Re-live those feelings. Be GRATEFUL. This is the single most important thing you can do to change your attitude. Remember that it is only you who can do it.
Start right now.
